Regent High School take part in the CAPS Pilot project!
Phase 1 of CAPS was a pilot study in which 2 secondary schools took part. The pilot material focused on climate science, electronic componentry and some basic coding. The workshops involved Year 9-10 students who were already working in STEAM subjects. This provided good overlap with many GCSE syllabuses and content was pitched at an appropriate level. This also avoided any disruption for Year 11 students who were taking their exams a few months later. The first school to take part in the Pilot was Regent High School.

Students were handpicked by teachers based on their demonstrated interest in related topics and suitability. There were 30 participants in total and students worked in pairs to create their APS. Within this group, there was a mixture of Year 9 and 10 students, 18 of which were male and 12 female and the workshops were integrated into the school day.Â
The school has chosen to integrate the sensors, and the collected data, into their STEAM curriculum.Â
